Rebecca Ferguson on the red carpet
After a successful limited run in theaters earlier this month, the Peaky Blinders officially returned by the order of Netflix this past weekend in the long-awaited feature film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.
An explosive, lore-expanding return for one of the very best franchises to come from across the pond this century, The Immortal Man features Cillian Murphy returning to don Tommy Shelby's cap once more, alongside new arrivals in Rebecca Ferguson, Barry Keoghan, and Tim Roth, and the likes of Sophie Rundle, Stephen Graham, Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee, Ian Peck, and more reprising roles from the series. Of the new faces joining the franchise, Ferguson, who also premiered her new dystopian sci-fi thriller Mercy this year, made a huge impression on The Immortal Man as Romany 'Queen' Kaulo Chiriklo, the identical twin sister of Duke Shelby's mother, Zelda. When discussing her character's pivotal role in the Shelby hierarchy restructure in The Immortal Man in an interview with Collider, Ferguson said,"She knows that when we find him, he's in a very fragile state, and he is lonely, and his mind has all these ghosts and everything happening, and when better to take control of someone than when they’re at their weakest?" Excitingly, ahead of the confirmed Peaky Blinders sequel series, which will feature two six-episode seasons, Ferguson has teased the potential return of Kauolo. In a recent interview, Ferguson said,"I never say no." However, she continued,"I think that Kaulo was so essential for this film, but I don’t always feel that a character needs to have a continuation; we can be satisfied with not being satisfied." Posts By Macklen Makhloghi Cillian Murphy is At His Best in 'The Immortal Man' Although the future of the Peaky Blinders may be heading in a new direction, the success of The Immortal Man still hinged on Tommy, and therefore Oscar-winner Murphy's performance. Thankfully, he delivered, with Greer Riddell saying in her review of the movie for Collider,"The Academy Award winner is as charismatic as ever, and his performance grips you until the very end. The Immortal Man, while obvious at times, also gives you everything you could want in a Peaky Blinders movie."
