Here's how we ranked Auburn's offensive position groups after its transfer portal haul

Auburn’s offense in 2026 will look completely different than the unit that took the field this past season. The Tigers’ 2025 offense was one of the worst in the SEC, but new head coach Alex Golesh replaced many of those players in the transfer portal.

As of Sunday morning, Auburn hasEleven of those transfers were with Golesh and offensive coordinator Joel Gordon at USF last season. While AAC isn’t the same level as the SEC, USF’s offense was very productive this past season, ranking second nationally in total yards per game. With that said, here’s how we ranked Auburn’s offensive position groups after its recent portal additions.Auburn’s running back room might be the deepest unit on the entire team. It’s returning Jeremiah Cobb, who rushed for 969 yards this past season, and added Bryson Washington, Nykahi Davenport and Tae Meadows after the transfer portal. All three of those players rushed for over 600 yards at their respective former schools in 2025. Washington was the biggest addition, coming to Auburn after spending three seasons at Baylor. His best year was 2024, during which he rushed for 1,028 yards and 12 touchdowns. Baylor running back Bryson Washington, left, runs with the ball as Utah linebacker Lander Barton makes a hit during the second half of an NCAA college football game Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, in Waco, Texas. Davenport and Meadows are also big additions. Meadows rushed for 695 yards and six touchdowns at Troy in 2025 and gives the Tigers another solid option. Davenport follows Golesh and the staff from USF and he rushed for 612 yards and averaged 6.2 yards per carry this past season. If this list was simply ranking the starters at each position, quarterback would be No. 1. That’s because Auburn added former USF signal callerBrown was USF’s starting quarterback for each of Golesh and offensive coordinator Joel Gordon’s three seasons in Tampa. At 6-foot-3 and 231 pounds, Brown is a true dual-threat and is experienced in the offense Auburn will run next season.is what keeps the quarterback position from being No. 1 on this list. Auburn added USF transfer Locklan Hewlett and Tristan Ti’a to back up Brown, but neither has played many snaps in college.Wide receiver was one of Auburn’s most talented position groups in 2025, but the majority of that unit left after the season. Players such as Cam Coleman and Eric Singleton Jr. will play for other SEC teams next fall, but the Tigers added a handful of productive transfers. Golesh brought most of his USF receiving corps with him to Auburn. Keshaun Singleton was the most notable addition, as he caught 50 passes for 877 yards and eight touchdowns for the Bulls in 2025. Chas Nimrod, Jeremiah Koger and Christian Neptune were other productive former USF receivers who transferred to the Plains and Auburn is set to return young players such as Bryce Cain, Sam Turner and Duke Smith. The receiver room doesn’t have the top-end talent that it had this past season, but it still has capable playmakers.Auburn was forced to completely rebuild its offensive line after it lost 12 players from the 2025 group. The Tigers did just that, adding nine transfers and five incoming freshmen on the offensive line. Five of those transfers were starters at their previous schools in 2025 and could be in line for starting jobs in 2026. Tackles Stanton Ramil and Joseph Simmons were arguably the biggest additions, and they both seem to be in positions to start in 2026. Former USF center Cole Best is another impact newcomer. Having started the past two seasons in Golesh’s offense at center, he’ll already be familiar with the offense and have a connection with Brown, his quarterback. The tight end room was another position group that had to be rebuilt, and Auburn did so by adding five transfers to the position. One of them, Jonathan Echols, brings experience in the offense having played for Golesh and Gordon at USF. The two biggest additions to the room, though, were North Carolina transfer Jake Johnson and Bowling Green transfer Arlis Boardingham. Both of them have SEC experience and Boardingham was a freshman All-American with Florida in 2023. With the five portal additions, one returner and one incoming freshman, Auburn’s tight end room has more than enough numbers in 2026. The lack of recent production from the projected contributors is what gives it the low ranking.
