Leone, 31, spent the last two seasons with the San Francisco Giants, but has pitched for Seattle, Arizona, Toronto, St. Louis and Cleveland. He was teammates with GM Chris Young in Seattle and pitched for pitching coach Mike Maddux in St. Louis.
Leone had a 1.51 ERA in 53.2 innings for San Francisco in 2021, but it jumped to 4.01 in 49.1 innings last year. Leone, who throws his slider as much as his fastball, grades out below average in terms of velocity, but ranked in the 100th percentile in chase rate.
