President Cyril Ramaphosa told the Judicial Inquiry into State Capture on Wednesday that there were oversight gaps in the Cabinet that obscured his view of what was happening in government departments and entities during his time as deputy president.
He was responding to questions about his role in the government during the administration of former president Jacob Zuma, at the height of state capture, particularly at departments and state-owned entities . During his appearance before the inquiry on Wednesday, Ramaphosa admitted to evidence leader, advocate Pule Seleka, that he proposed the secondment of Brian Molefe as Eskom CEO before it emerged that he had ties with the Gupta family.
