Cloudier skies will keep overnight lows well above averageANCHORAGE, Alaska - A trough over Alaska means cloudier and wetter weather for most of this week, with little sunshine to be expected. While rain will occur for the gulf coast region, farther north along the Brooks Range, snow can be expected.An area of low pressure just to the east of Kodiak will be the primary focus of the weather pattern over the next couple of days.

While daily highs will remain fairly seasonal in the low to mid 50s, overnight lows will remain warm due to the cloudy skies and active weather. It’s that time of the year when temperatures should dip well into the 30s however most of this week will see overnight lows in the 40s.The first significant rainy period of the fall season is building into Southeast with gusty winds and heavy rain expected through the middle of the week.

With the return to an active and wetter weather pattern, daily highs will remain fairly uniform in the 50s.Overall a quiet weather pattern, yet cloudier will remain this week. While some passing showers can’t be ruled out, most locations will remain on the dry side. There is the potential that areas east of the Richardson Highway could see light areas of wintry mix, which would primarily be confined to the overnight hours when temperatures dip down near freezing.
