Published: Jun. 5, 2024 at 6:53 PM AKDTANCHORAGE, Alaska - A summer storm washed across southcentral Alaska Wednesday. The wet weather led to a record rainfall for Anchorage with .35″ inches, breaks the old record.21″ from 1994.
While it was rain for Southcentral, showers related to thunderstorms were occurring in interior areas. Over 730 lightning strikes were recorded as of 7 p.m. Wednesday evening. There were even severe thunderstorm warnings for short periods, one of which affected Manley Hot Springs. A high wind advisory will begin tomorrow in the eastern Alaska Range, north of Trim’s Camp. South winds 25-40 miles per hour, with gusts to 60 mph are anticipated through Friday 4 p.m.

Now that is welcome weather news! Hot spot went to Bettles with 76 degrees. The cold spot was Marshall with a temperature of 21 degrees.
