LA Police Commission meeting unravels into chaos as shouting protestors force temporary shut down
Radical lefty agitators ambushed a Los Angeles Police Commission meeting Tuesday, screaming obscenities at officers and accusing the department of being murderers — before viciously turning on a California Post journalist.
Around 40 agitators — many of them obscuring their identity with medical masks or keffiyeh scarves — chanted “f–k the police,” assailed officers as “pigs” and shouted anti-law enforcement slogans as their increasingly disruptive antics brought the proceedings to a grinding halt until order was eventually restored a short time later. He said although demonstrations in the city have been “primarily peaceful” since the ruling, the restrictions remove tools used to create distance and avoid deadly force encounters from officers’ hands, and that the department is exploring alternatives.Members of the mob repeatedly refused to comment when given the opportunity, instead attempting to quash her freedom of the press.Then came public comment — a portion of the agenda governed by strict time limits and rules barring profanity, personal attacks and disruptions. Those rules didn’t last long, as the triggered paid agitators seized the open forum as an opportunity to soapbox. One after another, speakers cursed at commissioners and police, repeatedly yelling “f–k the police,” calling officers “pigs,” and branding the department a “murdering organization.” Chants echoed across the room. One speaker screamed, “Record the pigs. At one point, a representative from the Sidewalk Project — a controversial activist group contracted by the city to hand out taxpayer-funded syringes and crack pipes at notorious drug den MacArthur Park — took the microphone to accuse cops of “rape, torture and murder” in the killing of transgender sex worker Linda Becerra Moran. Moran was fatally shot by officers responding to a call she made Feb. 7 claiming she had been kidnapped after she rushed at them while armed with a knife and refused orders to drop the weapon, police said. The Board of Police Commissioners, created in the 1920s, is composed of five civilian members appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the City Council. It serves as the city’s primary civilian oversight body for the Los Angeles Police Department.Rep.
