Protesters have been condemned after heckling supporters and politicians outside a No vote rally in South Australia ahead of the Voice referendum, with calls for the Yes side and Prime Minister to address the behaviour.

launch of Fair Australia's No Campaign in Adelaide on Monday nightFootage taken by Liberal Senator Alex Antic captured the moment a group of demonstrators hurled abusive slurs like"racist pig" and"racist dog" as he walked into the event.

Speaking to Sky News Australia on Tuesday morning, shadow foreign minister Simon Birmingham slammed the scenes by the protesters at the event. “I wish we weren’t in this position. I wish that a unifying proposal for constitutional recognition had been put forward that didn’t divide the country like this is doing."

Stefanovic asked Mr Birmingham whether he believed anyone in attendance at the event seemed to be antagonising the group. “But you’re not going to convert those turning up to the rally of the other side. It’s abusive, it’s unacceptable and it’s also frankly a waste of your time.” Mr Pasin told Sky News Australia that he was being called"racist" and"sexist" as he walked into the venue.

Around 1,000 people attended the No campaign launch in South Australia and were greeted by demonstrators shouting profanities as they walked inside the Adelaide Convention Centre on Monday night. “I don’t want to see these scenes across the next four weeks, I don’t want to see them on referendum day – we need the leaders of the Yes campaign to call this behaviour out as unacceptable and disassociate themselves with this rogue, radical element,” Mr Pasin told Sky News Australia. “This behaviour is unacceptable, we have got to have a respectful debate and that wasn’t respectful – in fact, it was intimidatory and bordering on assault. “This is nothing more than childish intimidatory behaviour and it will turn people off.”
