Climate activists have sprayed orange and yellow paint on Berlin’s iconic Brandenburg Gate to protest the use of fossil fuels.

Members of a climate group took to the city’s landmark on Sunday armed with fire extinguishers and a lifting platform, ready to climb the 18th century monument to protest the continued use of the materials.

“In the morning, members of the so-called 'Last Generation' sprayed the pillars on the east side of the Brandenburg Gate with orange paint from fire extinguishers,” Berlin Police wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
