A forensic investigation has been launched into contract work relating to the eradication of asbestos at four KZN hospitals.
Two KZN Public Works and Infrastructure Department senior officials have been suspended in connection with a multimillion-rand fraud scandal.
The suspensions relate to contract work at four KZN hospitals, valued at R79m, for the eradication of asbestos. The probe will examine the rate of completion, value for money and work done in relation to invoices issued. Bhengu says this ‘decisive’ action underscores Meyer’s commitment to transparency, accountability and integrity within the department.
