'Paediatric gender care is a rapidly evolving area of health involving complex medical, psychological, family, and social considerations,' he stated via X. 'In light of emerging international evidence and policy decisions, it is critical that Queensland undertakes its own review.' Nicholls emphasized that the pause on Stage 1 and Stage 2 hormone therapy for children under 18 does not affect those currently receiving these medications. He added, 'We advise children experiencing gender dysphoria to still present so they can receive support services.'The announcement has sparked mixed reactions. While some individuals praised the government's decision to review the practice, others criticized the pause for not encompassing children already undergoing hormone therapy.
