Kabayan Party-list Rep. Ron Salo has called to gun owners to be responsible during their New Year revelry, or else end up injuring someone with stray bullets.
“Panawagan natin na maging responsable ang mga gun owners natin dahil ang baril ay dapat ginagamit lamang para sa proteksyon at hindi para gamiting pang-ingay para sa pagsalubong ng Bagong Taon ,” Salo said in a statement.
“Sana ay paigtingin ng kapulisan ang pagbabantay at pagpapakulong sa mga nagpapaputok ng baril ngayong Bagong Taon, para sa kapakanan nating lahat ,” added the chairman of the House Committee on Overseas Workers Affairs. Salo, a lawyer, underscored that the illegal discharge of firearms is punishable under Republic Act No.11926.
He said that there four people were injured with stray bullets during the 2022 New Year celebrations.
