Scores of researchers and staff from the National Institutes of Health have sent their Trump-appointed leader, Jay Bhattacharya, a letter criticizing deep cuts in public health research.
DALEVILLE-Modern Pop Art ist Michael Albert is bringing his Cereal Box Collage Workshop to the Daleville Public Library and the public is invited to attend. Albert will lead his hands-on collage workshop at the library on Donnell Boulevard in Daleville Saturday, June 14, from 11 a.
m. until 1 p.m., according to DPL Director Rachel Horne. “Kids and parents will have the opportunity to create their own masterpieces using Albert’s materials of choice—specifically, cereal, cookie and cracker boxes, and soda cartons,” Horne said. “All participants will receive a free signed poster of one of Albert’s creations as a gift for joining him in this creative art making session.” The Pop Art movementThe Pop Art movement began almost 70 years ago with the"Old Masters" such as: Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Roy Lichtenstein, and others who started creating art themed about everyday products and objects and subjects. People are also reading… “Albert’s work has been described as a cross between Pop Art, Cubism, and Recycling with a wide range of subjects he explores including many text-based works,” said Horne. “Albert’s Pop Art is often referred to as ‘Modern’ since he’s been creating it for the past 25 years and still creates new works on a regular basis.” Meet Michael AlbertA Long Island, New York, native, Albert is the author of an artist autobiography titled, “An Artist’s America” and is nationally known for making collage artworks from cereal boxes and other printed cardboard consumer brand packages. Albert’s “Portrait of An American Classic,” Frosted Flakes Box Collage was his official beginning as a Modern Pop Artist back in 1996. He calls that collage, “The Birth of Cerealism.” Since then, he has created over 700 collages from cereal boxes like this, and thousands more with different themes, all artworks using the same everyday materials. The “Modern Pop Art Experience” art workshop in Daleville is among those Albert is holding in 75 cities in nine states this summer. Albert will be bringing his nationally renowned “Modern Pop Art Experience” Art programs to over 75 cities in nine states this summer. Over the past 15 years he has been running this art enrichment program and brought it to over 1,000 libraries, museums, schools, art and community centers in 48 states, with only Alaska and Hawaii left to complete the 50.
