The pub initially went up for sale back in March 2023

A Derbyshire pub with a fish and chip shop attached and incredible views of the surrounding countryside has had its asking price dropped once again ahead of an auction next month. The Thorn Tree Inn, between Ripley and Langley Mill , has been shut for more than a year and is being auctioned with a guide price of £250,000.

The site was also home to a separate fish and chip takeaway business, which operated from the side of the property. It had been part of the George's Tradition group but at the time of closure, it had rebranded as a Caudal & Dorsal fish and chip takeaway. Although the pub has a history of being a firm favourite among locals, reviews left on Google in the months leading up to its closure hinted that the quality of service had fallen at The Thorn Tree. One reviewer wrote: "Things have changed and are nowhere near as busy as used to be. We visited a cold restaurant and it was not so cosy.
