The Dallas demonstration was one of many across the country Tuesday in conjunction with thousands of people whoMichelle Anderson, policy assoicate at the Afiya Center, leads a chant during a rally supporting abortion rights at the Civic Garden outside the Earle Cabell Federal Building in downtown Dallas.

Sacha Casciato, 45, drove to the courthouse from Denton with her spouse to attend the protest. She wore a green shirt that said “Practice Radical Empathy” and carried a sign that read “Keep Your Filthy Laws Off My Silky Drawers” in green letters. Casciato said exceptions to abortion bans for cases where a woman’s life is in danger are not enough.

The court’s draft opinion has no immediate effect on the law, and it’s possible justices could change their vote by the time the case is decided in the coming months. But speakers at Tuesday’s rally urged the crowd to stand up in the weeks before the decision.
