A new highly-advanced surveillance camera has sparked a debate about privacy and artificial intelligence in Perth.

The camera, developed by private Perth-based tech company Aero Ranger, is able to track every vehicle, number plate and model at a busy intersection - and stream it live on YouTube. "The purpose of this AI camera here ... is really to start the conversation of artificial intelligence and how it can be used in the real world," Aero Ranger CEO John Colebrook said.Aero Ranger claims the camera collects no data and that the live-stream is harmless."Filming activities in a public street is not illegal, people don't have a right to privacy in a public street," he said.
