Two patients reported they were pressured by a social media marketer to remove negative Google reviews about their care by a Saskatoon dentist.
He said Kal “stated he had ‘gone through all the notes with the lawyers’ regarding what treatment had completed at Saskatoon Smiles. Kal further stated that what had posted on Google was ‘defamation’ and that the business is ‘able to seek damages,’ ” Kruzeniski wrote.
Kruzeniski said this patient received a letter from a Meadow Lake-based lawyer dated Nov. 5, 2021 claiming he represented Antosh, another dentist and Saskatoon Smiles. Antosh gave Kruzeniski’s office a copy of the marketer’s employment letter for the role of director of social media. Through his lawyer, Antosh told the privacy commissioner there’s nothing in the health legislation preventing an organization from indirectly gathering or retaining information from online sources to protect its own reputation, defend itself in regulatory proceedings or to explore/pursue legal action against other individuals.
