Mario Alvarez was in front of his home when he was lured toward a car driven by Stephanie Zaragosa and shot to death in 2022.
A San Antonio woman who admitted her part in a West Side killing in 2022 has been sentenced to 18 years in prison. Stephanie Zaragosa was charged along with Gilbert Torres in the fatal shooting of Mario Alvarez , 21, in broad daylight in front of his residence in the 3800 block of Morales on Aug. 29, 2022.
Zaragosa motioned for Alvarez to approach the vehicle, and when he did, Alvarez was shot twice, San Antonio police said. He died later at a hospital. Television reports citing the affidavit detailed a lingering feud between Zaragosa and Alvarez. She told investigators that she was angry at Alvarez for cutting a mutual acquaintance months earlier and drove the Jeep with Torres in the back seat, who shot the man when he approached.
