In a motion filed Monday, The Prichard Water Works and Sewer Board says that a takeover of the system by Mobile Area Water and Sewer System in “not an option”.F
First, they argue that they take over of the system by MAWSS is only possible if Prichard Water consents to the transfer of the system, which they say they will actively fight in court.
Option 1, they argue, would be to combine the two systems and spread the costs across all it’s customers, which in this case it would mean all of MAWSS current customers as well as all current PWWSB customers. PWWSB argue that if Option 1 is chosen, MAWSS would be subject to ratepayer lawsuits “challenging reasonableness and justification for MAWSS burdening its existing customers with the debt of the PWWSB system”.
