President Joe Biden will travel to Florida and Georgia communities Thursday to survey damage from Hurricane Helene , again demonstrating his administration's concern for the lives lost and the unimaginable destruction.caused by one of the deadliest hurricanes in history that killed more than 180 people across six states. Biden said he will meet with federal, state and local officials as well as first responders in addition to hearing from residents, small business owners and farmers.

What we're seeing across North Carolina right now is bigger than politics," the president said Wednesday. "There are no red or blues states. We are one United States of America.Biden will deliver a similar message to the people of Florida and Georgia in an effort to reassure them the federal government is there to help.

The president also announced Wednesday that he directed 1,000 soldiers from Fort Liberty to help the North Carolina National Guard provide critical supplies to isolated communities., the soldiers are part of "an Infantry Battalion Task Force," who are "assembling and moving to the affected areas within the next 24 hours."

The release noted the North Carolina National Guard performed at least 1,400 rescues and delivered more than 700,000 pounds in supplies so far. Vice President Harris also dropped everything Wednesday during her critical campaign for president to visit Augusta, Georgia to visit with families, first responders, volunteers and officials.
