Manchester Township opened its Alert Fire Company in Emigsville as a cooling shelter, complete with drinks, fans, air conditioning, and electricity. "Most of the Emigsville area is without power, and has been so since the storms last evening," said Don Dull, a fire trustee in Manchester Township."We definitely have that need for this especially since there's a lot of elderly people in the community here that might not have an alternative place to go." Roads throughout the township have been closed throughout the day due to downed trees and in some cases, downed utility poles, causing traffic in the Emigsville area. Met-Ed estimates that the majority of those still without power will have it restored by 11 p.m. on Thursday, July 18.
