Christmas week weather forecast for Houston, Texas. Expect mostly pleasant temperatures with a chance of thunderstorms on Christmas Eve and possibly Thursday.

Christmas week is here. It has been fairly pleasant in the temperature department over the last few days and that looks to continue this week. Thunderstorms return to the forecast this week. The good news is it looks like Christmas Day itself should be fairly quiet outside of the early morning hours. The two days we are watching for the potential of some stronger storms will be overnight Christmas Eve into Christmas morning and possibly again on Thursday.

For most of the day on Christmas Eve, the weather should be quiet with perhaps a few light showers across the area. That will change as we head into the overnight hours as a cold front moves into the area. Storms will develop across Central Texas and push east with the front. It looks like the storms should be knocking on Houston’s doorstep around the midnight hour.By 6 a.m., most of the storms will have cleared the Houston area. Coastal areas and our eastern counties may still be dealing with some rain. These storms will continue to move east with the front.By 9 a.m., storms will have cleared our area and the weather should be quiet for the rest of the day. There is a low risk some of the storms could have some strong to potentially damaging winds. The threat looks fairly low at this time, but it is there. There are some questions as to how big of a severe weather threat we will be dealing with and exactly where the best chances of it will set up. Either way, storms look to be likely late on Thursday. We should get a better idea of what is in store as new model data comes in the closer we get to the event and we will be watching to see just how much of a severe weather threat develop
