The Division of Science at NYU Abu Dhabi invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Associate position in applied mathematics and computational science. This opportunity is focused on research at the Mubadala Arabian Center for Climate and Environmental Sciences (MACCESS) and will involve utilizing ML/AI techniques to analyze ocean and atmospheric data.

The Division of Science at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Post-Doctoral Associate in applied mathematics and computational science . This position will be based at the Mubadala Arabian Center for Climate and Environmental Science s ( MACCESS ) and will be supervised by Professor Francesco Paparella.

The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research within MACCESS, focusing on topics that align with the center's mission to address climate and environmental challenges. Areas of particular interest include the application of machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) techniques for feature identification, dimensionality reduction, and parameterization building in ocean and atmospheric data or models. Candidates with interdisciplinary backgrounds and the ability to work on multiple projects are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants must hold a PhD degree in mathematics, physics, engineering, or a related field, demonstrating a strong foundation in applied mathematics and scientific computing. Prior experience in geophysical fluid dynamics is highly desirable. Essential skills include excellent written and oral communication, the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams, and a demonstrated capacity for independent scientific research. The position also requires willingness and capability to supervise students, such as research interns.This two-year appointment, with a six-month probationary period, offers a competitive salary, housing allowance, and other benefits. The Post-Doctoral Associate will have access to dedicated funds for travel, equipment, publications, and state-of-the-art research facilities at NYUAD. These facilities include a high-performance computing (HPC) cluster with approximately 30,000 computing cores and 34 GPU nodes, providing unparalleled resources for computational research. The start date for this position is flexible and may commence as early as September 2025.
