The driver of the speeding Porsche 911 allegedly left the country before vehicular homicide charges were filed.
A Porsche 911 driver in Washington who allegedly crashed her car, killing her passenger in the incident, fled to China to avoid vehicular homicide charges, King 5 reports. The crash took place in Bellevue, Washington on September 30 around 4 a.m. Ting Ye, 26, was the alleged driver of the white 911. Traffic cameras at several intersections captured the violent, high-speed crash.
Court records allege that Ye did not cooperate with investigators, King 5 reports. Alcohol was suspected to be a factor in the crash, police said.Bellevue Police think it's likely that when Ye was released from the hospital, she crossed the border into Canada and from there, fled to her home country of China. She was allegedly already in China by the time the King County prosecuting attorney’s office filed a charge of vehicular homicide. The case has now been turned over to the U.S.
