Police in Lower Township, Cape May County, New Jersey, are warning residents of a possible unsanctioned off-road vehicle event scheduled for later today. Authorities say they are prepared for the event, which is rumored to take place in the northern area of the township, and have increased their presence in the area. Police emphasize that operating unauthorized vehicles on public roads is inherently dangerous and illegal.
Police in a Cape May County town warn residents Wednesday of a possible unsanctioned off-road vehicle event on public roads and vowed a “swift and appropriate” response by authorities.
“The Lower Township Police has learned of an unsanctioned event involving off-road vehicles on public roads scheduled to take place later today,” the dLower Township police said they are prepared if something happens, though no drivers had arrived in the designated meet-up spot as of 2:15 p.m, Deputy Chief Donald Vanaman said in an email.
“No one has gathered yet,” the deputy chief said. “It is rumored it will be mid-afternoon in the northern area of the township. We have beefed up our presence and have contingencies in place.”“It is inherently dangerous and illegal to operate unauthorized vehicles on public roads, especially in a reckless manner in populated areas,” police said.
