Justin Johnson texted a group of friends after the chase at his home saying: 'You were never going to catch me,' police said.
Dauphin County investigators on Friday said 16-year-old Justin Johnson was playing a game of tag trending among central Pennsylvania high school students before his fatal collapse last week.
The game’s participants were in a Life 360 group, Kosheba said. Life 360 is an app that allows you to track the location of family and friends. Police said more than 22 teens were in the Life 360 group, including Justin. Participants must agree to join the app and download it on their phones. A chase began when Justin walked outside and approached the three cars that the other teen boys had parked outside his house. Justin started running and the boys chased him, one with a water gun in hand.
“You were never going to catch me,” Justin messaged the Snapchat group, according to screenshots police provided at Friday’s press conference. When the boys returned on April 26, Justin initially declined to come outside, telling them he was not home. He finally agreed to walk out when the boys said they could see Justin through his home’s windows.
