The former White House communications director's Mercedes SUV, with its license plate MRSMOOCH, was stolen in Paramus and recovered in Newark.
Police located the vehicle — with New York plate “MRSMOOCH” — by tracking a GPS unit that was installed. Newark Public Safety Director Brian O’Hara drove Scaramucci to the vehicle, police officials said.
Newark police referred questions about how and from where the vehicle was stolen, and if any arrests have been made, to Paramus police. Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg did not respond to an email Saturday.reported that Ehrenberg said the vehicle was unlocked and the thief was able to start it up because a key fob was left inside.
O’Hara said he was glad he could help Scaramucci and that he didn’t offer him any special treatment by driving him to his vehicle. “Feel free to look through our social media pages. You will find that I routinely make myself available at nights and on weekends for our officers and residents and that I have assisted in previous stolen car incidents. Mr. Scaramucci is a public figure. He was very gracious and thankful to our officers, who often have a thankless job.
A Harvard Law School graduate, Scaramucci had a career in finance before entering politics. He was the White House communications director for 10 days in 2017. He has parlayed his stint in the White House press room into appearances on late night talk shows, a book deal and a podcast. Once a Trump acolyte, the Mooch is now a vocal critic of the former president.
