Footage shows police searching the home of Natalie Rupnow, the 15-year-old who fatally shot one student and one teacher at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin, on December 16. Police are investigating the shooting and while they are not looking at prosecuting her parents at this time, the Madison Mayor remains uncertain about future charges.
Law enforcement officials in Wisconsin appear to have raided the home of Natalie Rupnow following the shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison on December 16, according to new footage. Police are investigating the school shooting which was reportedly carried out by 15-year-old Rupnow, who died at the scene. According to WTKR News, Madison investigators have been combing through items taken from the home.
Footage from WTKR shows Natalie Rupnow's house, which she lived in with her father, Jeff Rupnow, with its door torn off the hinges and lying on the ground, and police walking in and out of the premises. Newsweek contacted the Madison Police Department via email for comment outside of working hours. Madison Chief of Police, Shon F. Barnes told media on Monday that Natalie Rupnow's parents were cooperating with the police in their investigation, and that they were not looking at prosecuting her parents for the crime at this time. This differs from previous recent school shootings. Colin Grey, for example, the father of alleged Apalachee High School shooter Colt Grey, was charged with two counts of second-degree murder alongside his son. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Police have identified Natalie Rupnow, who also went by 'Samantha,' as the teen who killed one student and one teacher, and injured six others, at her private Christian school in Wisconsin on December 16. She lived with her father, who had gained custody over her after divorcing her mother for a second time in 2021. She died following the shooting from what was believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. While Barnes said that Natalie Rupnow's parents were cooperating and that he had 'no reason to believe that they have committed a crime at this time,' Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway said it was too early to confirm whether the parents would face criminal charges.
