An officer under investigation took his own life after being suspended
A celebrated police officer who tragically took his own life left a note blaming West Yorkshire Police. The force has now been told to change their internal disciplinary processes to prevent ‘future deaths’.
During this two-year period, Mr Stubbs' mental health suffered as he waited for a conclusion to the investigation. Why he was arrested has not been made public. He had tried to get medical help due to the the mental strain of being suspended for so long. The report explains that Martin’s father, a former officer himself and a civilian police employee, said the long amount of time Martin remained suspended directly contributed to his death.
