WEST JEFFERSON, Ohio — The West Jefferson Police Department identified the suspect who authorities sayPolice on Monday said Ali Hamsa Yusuf fired a semiautomatic handgun from within the facility on state Route 29, but a motive for doing so is unclear at this time.. He was shot and killed during a later encounter and shootout with Columbus police where an officer was also injured.
“We’re thankful that no one at our facility was injured during this incident and for the work of our team on the ground and first responders,” an Amazon spokesperson said in a statement. The encounter led to an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and responding officers, according to Columbus police. Two outside agencies responded to the encounter as well.
