JOHOR BARU: Newly appointed Prime Minister's Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's Cabinet cannot be seen as Malay-centric, as Malaysia is a multiracial country, says Datuk Md Jais Sarday.

The Johor Umno treasurer said that the new government needs to win the hearts of the people by appointing good and credible ministers from all races.

Jais also said that the new Prime Minister should appoint professional and capable leaders to his Cabinet, and not just reward positions to his loyalist and those backing him in the recent political tussle. Jais, who is also Kluang Umno division chairman, said that there were other ways to reward the loyalists or backers, including giving them positions in GLCs.

Jais said that if there was a special need for certain capable professionals from the private sector to be appointed into the Cabinet, then the Prime Minister could take them in as senators.
