JOHOR BARU: The police have arrested 73 foreign “guest relation officers” (GROs) during a raid at an entertainment outlet here.
State CID chief Senior Asst Comm Md Yusof Ahmad said the raid was conducted on Friday night along Jalan Bestari 7/2 AT in Taman Nusa Bestari here.“Among those arrested are 78 foreigners, including 72 from Thailand and one from Laos who working as GROs and five Bangladeshis who were also working on the premises," he said here Saturday .
SAC Md Yusof added that those arrested were between the ages of 20 and 45 years old and police had also seized 10 garlands, eight business receipts and cash amounting to RM9,300 on the premises. He added that each of the garlands was priced between RM100 and RM1000 with customers paying the amount as a tip for the GROs.
SAC Md Yusof said police have classified the case under Section 11 of the Johor Entertainment Enactment 1998, Section 55B of the Immigration Act, Section 39 of the Immigration Rules and Section 6 of the Immigration Act.
