It has not garnered the same amount of unfathomable hype as Hollow Knight—rivaled exclusively by Bloodborne in the sphere of Soulslike games, to be fair—but it would be folly for any Soulslike admirer worth their salt to overlook it. Blasphemous 2 Is Now On PS Plus Game Catalog Blasphemous 2 being on PS Plus’ Game Catalog as of March 17 is a treat for anyone who adores the niche subgenre of Soulslike Metroidvania games. Plus, unlike Hollow Knight and Hollow Knight: Silksong, two games that certainly have Soulslike influences but lean far more heavily into Metroidvania elements, it is easier to ascribe the term ‘Soulslike’ to Blasphemous and Blasphemous 2 based on their aesthetic, atmosphere, and themes. The Game Kitchen’s Blasphemous games delve into dark fantasy Catholicism, expressed beautifully in stunning pixel art. And, like any sequel ideally should, Blasphemous 2 extrapolates on the original game’s gameplay with thrilling combat and traversal mechanics in the richly detailed and lore-filled land of Cvstodia. Now’s The Best Time To Check It Out The game originally launched on August 24, 2023, with Blasphemous 2’s Mea Culpa DLC releasing on October 31, 2024, as a paid expansion alongside a free update titled True Torment. So, even if you partook in Blasphemous 2 when it initially came out, there are countless reasons to return, including new bosses, regions, NPCs, endings, and more, as well as the DLC’s eponymous sword .
