Far removed from last year's ill-fated point guard experiment, third-year forward Jeremy Sochan looks like he's primed for a breakout season.

At the behest of Gregg Popovich , Jeremy Sochan slipped out of his own skin last season for an experiment. Starting Victor Wembanyama 's rookie season with the rugged 6-foot-8, 230-pound forward operating as the Spurs ' supersized point guard felt like an act of folly to more than a few NBA observers, and as the early weeks wore on even a weary Sochan seemed to align with that thinking. “There have been moments where it’s like, ‘Yo, I don’t want to,’ ” Sochan last November of running point.
