Aside from a key flagrant foul call, forward Jeremy Sochan was a bright spot in the San Antonio Spurs' season opener.

Twenty five seconds into the fourth quarter of the Thursday’s season opener in Dallas , Spurs forward Jeremy Sochan had his first predictable moment of the 2024-25 campaign. Driving and flailing toward a layup, Sochan’s off arm caught Dallas center Daniel Gafford square in the head. After video review, officials slapped Sochan with a flagrant foul. Did he clock Gafford on purpose? “ no,” the pesky 21-year-old said after the Spurs ’ 121-109 defeat at American Airlines Center .

Despite opening night loss, there is evidence Spurs are better than last year Unlike last season, when Sochan opened as an ill-suited point guard, the former Baylor standout was more comfortable at his usual forward position. “You grow up every year, you learn some things,” Sochan said. “My situations a little different than last year. It’s just me playing with energy, playing hard, trying to be everywhere.
