As we stare down another sweltering day, there are plenty of places open around central Ohio that want to help the community stay cool.

To help the entire community to stay cool, Columbus Recreation and Parks is waiving entry fees at city pools.will be free for the first 2,000 people. The science center will be open during their regular business hours, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Extreme weather events are becoming more common -- from this week’s potentially record-breaking heat, to the tornados and severe storms we have been experiencing," said Councilmember Christopher Wyche in a statement. “That’s why Council is working with City Departments and community partners to support our residents through multiple channels during this heat wave.”Families may come to the film center on Wednesday or Thursday for a free screening of movies between 1 p.m-6 p.m.
