The Pittsburgh Steelers are hiring Cowboys assistant Roman Chinyoung.
Published: Jan. 29, 2026, 5:49 p.m.Chinyoung was with the Cowboys for the last few seasons as their assistant offensive line coach, where he drew rave reviews, but he will now teach a new position in running backs.
That means Steelers running backs coach Eddie Faulkner will not return to the team. Chinyoung is thought of highly in NFL circles and was bound to get a position coach spot somewhere, and he is another player with connections to McCarthy, which as become commonplace with the Steelers’ new staff. The only two coaches they have not hired yet on the offensive side of the ball is the offensive coordinator and tight ends coach, but those will be filtering it shortly over the next few days as McCarthy conducts interviews and finalizes his staff hirings. All in all, it has the Steelers set up to become an experienced coaching staff, and one with a mix of connections from McCarthy’s stops in Green Bay and Dallas.
