According to the San Antonio Police Department, a woman was babysitting two children, a one-year-old, a three-year-old, and a pit bull. While removing the dog from a bath, the dog reportedly ran into a bedroom and attacked the children.Police say the one-year-old had injuries above the eye, while the three-year-old suffered bites to the lip and armpit. Both children were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Animal Care Services has taken custody of the dog and is currently investigating the incident to determine if the dog should be classified as dangerous.ACS Lisa Norwood released a statement on the incident, Animal Care Services is aware of and investigating today’s horrific bite incident inside an apartment unit involving two young children. Both the adult caretaker and the owner of the animal face multiple citations for the bite itself and lack of a legally required rabies vaccination and microchip. This investigation has begun in earnest and the dog is in ACS custody.
