A 43-year-old man was severely injured in a pit bull attack on San Antonio's Northwest Side, prompting charges against the dog owner. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) reports that deputies responded to a dog bite incident involving the victim who suffered serious facial injuries to his lips, chin, and cheek. The attack transpired while the man and his wife were walking their own dog. The pit bull initially targeted their pet, leading to the man intervening.
However, the pit bull subsequently turned on the man, dragging him to the ground. The victim was swiftly transported to University Hospital for medical treatment.Neighbors corroborated the incident, stating that the same pit bull had been implicated in previous attacks. Surveillance footage further supported the details provided by witnesses. In 2023, a neighbor reported that the gray and white pit bull belonging to the dog owner, identified as Polley, had attacked her small dog, leaving it injured. Polley was subsequently arrested and charged in connection with that attack. A search warrant was executed at her residence. Now, Polley is facing charges related to the latest attack, including Attack by Dog Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury. Both the dog and its owner are scheduled to appear in court in Precinct 2 within the coming weeks. During this hearing, the judge will determine the dog's fate and address the request filed by the Sheriff's Office to prevent Polley from owning dogs in the future. Adding to the legal proceedings, the Sheriff's Office has also requested that the other pit bull residing in Polley's home be placed in a new home. The court will ultimately decide on this request as well. As state law mandates, the aggressive pit bull involved in the attack is currently under quarantine at Bexar County Animal Control
