PIAA girls volleyball 4A quarterfinal: State College vs Hempfield preview
The class of girls volleyball in Pennsylvania battle for a state in their respective classifications. After an eventful first round, it’s time to get the PIAA 4A quarterfinals started.
Let’s dive deeper into the matchup between District 3 winner Hempfield and District 6 winner State College on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Mifflin County High School today at 11 a.m.Hempfield’s dominance cannot be understated. After defeating Central Dauphin, the Black Knights have won seven of the last eight D3 4A titles and 17 overall state titles. Their dominance continued with a sweep over District 1 third-place finisher Garnet Valley in the first round of states.
For all of its district dominance, the Black Knights haven’t had that much success at the state level. Hempfield has fallen short to North Allegheny the past two seasons. With a victory, the Black Knights may have an opportunity to avenge their loss to North Allegheny if the Tigers defeat Bishop Shanahan.State College and Hempfield boast excellent defenses, so points will be difficult to come by. In turn, the team with the least amount of errors will come away with the victory.
