The Philippines recorded 7,731 new COVID-19 infections from November 28 to December 4, 2022, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Monday. The past week was the fifth with fewer than 10,000 new cases logged.

Based on the agency’s latest COVID-19 bulletin, the cases logged in the past week were 4% lower than the 8,032 cases recorded from November 21 to 27. The daily case average for the past week was 1,104, down from the previous period's average of 1,147.A total of 134 additional verified COVID-19-related deaths were also belatedly reported last week.
Of the new cases recorded from November 28 to December 4, there were two individuals tagged as new severe or critical cases. DOH said this was only 0.03% of the new cases reported for the week.Also, 73.6 million Filipinos, or 94.27% of the government’s target population are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to DOH.The number of boosted individuals also increased to 20.9 million, of whom 142,000 have been boosted in the same period.
Meanwhile, at least 6.9 million senior citizens, or 79.37% of the target A2 population have also received their primary vaccine series.from December 5 to 7, in a bid to ramp up the inoculation uptake among children aged five to 17.
