Skin-care mogul Peter Thomas Roth has apologized for his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein following the release of new documents related to the case. The documents reveal email exchanges between Roth and Epstein spanning several years. Roth claims to have only visited Epstein's home once and denies any involvement in inappropriate activities.
Last week, the Justice Department released millions of new documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case, including yet another trove ofbetween Epstein and hordes of famous and powerful figures. Among the many names that appear in the recently released Epstein files is Peter Thomas Roth , founder of the eponymous skin-care brand, which launched in 1993 and has built an avid following for his popular anti-aging and acne cosmetics.
Roth’s name appears largely in emails he seems to have exchanged with Epstein between the years 2004 and 2018. According to messages from 2017, Roththe disgraced financier’s Manhattan residence. The emails suggest they were in touch until at least October 2018. Instagram accounts on Thursday, the skin-care guru apologized for his relationship with Epstein. “Jeffrey Epstein was my physics teacher when I was 17 in the 12th grade at the Dalton School,” he wrote. “We stayed in touch casually in the nearly five decades that followed.” Roth said he visited Epstein’s home in Manhattan “once to show him some skin-care products,” and said he “was never present with him for any activity that was inappropriate, never attended his parties, never flew on his plane, and never traveled to his island.” “When allegations surrounding Epstein’s behavior first surfaced, I was in disbelief that he could commit such heinous crimes. I was gravely mistaken,” Roth continued. “I’m horrified by the crimes he committed and the lasting impact they have had on his victims, and I deeply regret maintaining any association with him after leaving the Dalton School.” This isn’t the first time Roth has been forced to acknowledge his history with Epstein. In 2019, he told theabout his memories of him as a teacher, recalling him as “brilliant” and saying he never heard of any misconduct by him while he worked at the school in the 1970s, before his career in finance began. “He was like your friend, you know?” Roth said.
