Authorities are seeking the public's help in identifying a person of interest in the murder of 23-year-old art student Menghan Zhuang, who was found dead in her Newhall condominium. Investigators believe this was not a random act of violence and that Zhuang knew the person of interest.
Authorities are seeking the public's help in identifying a person of interest in the murder of 23-year-old art student Menghan Zhuang, also known as Emily King, who was found dead in her Newhall condominium on February 4th. Zhuang was discovered unresponsive by her roommate and pronounced dead at the scene from multiple injuries to her upper body.
Investigators learned that Zhuang had a male companion at her apartment the night of February 3rd, who was captured on video exiting from her second-story bedroom window the following afternoon. The person of interest is described as a man in his 20s, wearing a black shirt and black pants, who appears to be of Asian descent. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department believes this was not a random act of violence and that Zhuang knew the person of interest.The California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), where Zhuang was a senior undergraduate studying art, released a statement expressing their community's devastation over the loss. They offered condolences to Zhuang's family, friends, classmates, and teachers. CalArts is cooperating with the investigation and helped connect investigators with Zhuang's family. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is expected to approve a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Zhuang's killer.
