PennDOT has implemented travel restrictions and reduced speed limits on several major roadways in central Pennsylvania due to a significant winter storm.

Most of the region will see a solid 2 to 4 inches with amounts of up to 6 inches possible south of US 30. Traveling will be difficult.Travel and speed restrictions have been put in place for several central Pennsylvania roadways due to Monday's storm, according to PennDOT.

Due to Monday's snow, PennDOT has reduced speeds to 45mph on the following roads: I-81 from the Maryland border to I-78 (Exit 89), I-83 in its entire length and the PA Turnpike (I-76) from Breezewood (Exit 161) to Harrisburg East (Exit 247) will be on a Tier 2 restriction starting Monday. The restriction began at 12 a.m. Monday and includes restrictions for 'Empties & Loaded Tandem Trailers w/o Chains or ATD Onboard.' PennDOT and the PA Turnpike announced a list Tier 2 restricted vehicles Sunday that will not be permitted on the affected roadways:Tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded enclosed trailers, open trailers or tank trailersTractors towing loaded tandem trailers without chains or Alternate Traction Devices (ATDs) Enclosed unloaded or lightly loaded cargo delivery trucks/box trucks that meet the definition of a CM
