“Typically, I get in there after this, I shower, everybody’s gone, I get done in the shower, and Andy Mutnan is waiting for me,” Franklin said. “He goes through how we got out of the game and what the injuries were. Typically, we don’t have a whole lot of information until the next morning.” On the second half‘s opening kickoff, Singleton took the ball at the 3-yard line and sliced easily through Washington’s defense, down the Penn State sideline, for a 97-yard score.

In Singleton’s absence, Kaytron Allen ran 20 times for 98 yards and a fourth-quarter score that iced the win. Freshman Corey Smith also made his Penn State debut and surged for a 78-yard run in garbage time. He finished with five carries for 95 yards and came up just short of a late touchdown.
