A software engineer but really a musician and a writer.

Even though it has been months since Fantastic Four: First Steps landed on Disney+, the film is still dominating the global streaming charts. According to FlixPatrol, it continues to rank in Disney+’s Top 10 charts in 25+ countries, including the U.

S., the UK, Australia, and Mexico. That staying power makes sense, though. This is the latest MCU release, and Marvel momentum is slowly building again. The most recent Avengers: Doomsday teaser also briefly featured The Thing and teased that The Fantastic Four will return in the upcoming crossover event, which likely made many fans want to revisit the film. The film served as a reboot of 2015’s abysmal Fantastic Four and brought Marvel’s first family into the mainline MCU for the first time. The story is set on a retro-futuristic alternate Earth where The Fantastic Four are treated like celebrity heroes, but this time they are confronted with a danger they might not be able to punch their way out of. Galactus shows up in all his terrifying glory, and he forces Reed Richards into an impossible decision: give up his own son or watch the entire planet be destroyed. It felt like the kind of return to form the franchise had been desperate for. The film earned about $521 million worldwide, which is a solid number, but for a Marvel movie of this scale, it feels surprisingly small. A Phase 3 or Phase 4 release with this level of praise would have easily crossed a billion. The same thing also happened with Thunderbolts*, and taken together, it suggests Marvel has lost the goodwill it built up with Avengers: Endgame. Many fans now seem perfectly fine waiting for these movies to hit Disney+ instead of showing up opening weekend. The Latest ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Teaser Potentially Places The Fantastic Four in the Void The latest Avengers: Doomsday teaser shows The Thing meeting the Wakandans. The scene takes place in a barren, desert-like environment, which at first seemed like The Fantastic Four’s ship had landed near Wakanda. However, that theory falls apart once Namor and the Talokans appear in the same place. The Talokans live deep underwater, and the temple shown in the teaser is the exact one from Wakanda Forever, now sitting on dry land. Both the Wakandans and Talokans also look shaken and out of place. That strongly suggests this meeting is not happening on Earth at all, but in the Void. The Void has already been shown as a similar desert wasteland in Deadpool & Wolverine. If Doom stranded them there, it’s a masterstroke from Marvel, because it immediately raises the stakes and establishes Doom as a menacing threat before he even shows his face.
