FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Pearl Creek Elementary School faculty and the Parent-teacher organization conducted an informational meeting regarding the potential school closures — discussing the future of the school they love.
Last year, the PTO successfully organized a rally and was able to save their school from closure. There are no plans for a similar rally this time around, according to Gromley. Due to their relations with the University of Alaska, a focus on science, technology, engineering, and math, was proposed as an example.
“It’s an unofficial magnet school in my opinion, just with how many families it’s brought into our area with all the programs activities we’ve had,” said Barbie Keller, a teacher at Pearl Creek Elementary School.
