PCSK9 inhibitors were associated with a lower risk for nonmelanoma skin cancer in older adults with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, in a retrospective cohort study.
Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 inhibitors, lipid-lowering drugs, were associated with a 22% lower risk for nonmelanoma skin cancer in patients with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease , an effect that was particularly significant among men, those older than 65 years, and those with immunosuppression.
The analysis used propensity score matching for head-to-head comparisons, with hazard ratios estimated using Cox proportional hazard models.
