Academy Award nominee Paul Giamatti is set to portray the legendary paranormal DJ Art Bell in a new film from the directing duo Radio Silence.
Paul Giamatti is set to star in a new biopic about the late paranormal radio DJ Art Bell . The film, from Radio Silence (the directing duo behind horror hits like Ready or Not and Scream), will chronicle Bell's iconic show, “Coast to Coast†, which aired from his home studio 65 miles west of Las Vegas. Bell's show, renowned for its unscreened phone calls, featured guests sharing stories about alien encounters, past lives, time travel, and other paranormal experiences.
Giamatti's casting comes on the heels of his recent success, including a Best Actor Academy Award nomination for his role in Alexander Payne's The Holdovers and a reprisal of his Harold Levinson character in Downton Abbey 3. This project is drawing interest from major studios like Amazon, Warner Bros. Pictures, and others who are currently vying for the rights. Giamatti is known for his versatility, ranging from comedic roles in films like Sideways and Super Troopers to dramatic turns in acclaimed series like HBO's Mare of Easttown. He also co-hosts the podcast Chinawag with Stephen Asma, exploring the depths of human consciousness. Radio Silence, known for their blend of horror and comedy, has built a solid reputation in the genre with their previous films. Their upcoming projects include a sequel to Ready or Not and a new film, Abigail, which appears to be connected to their 2019 hit.
