New England Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo has an update on quarterback Drake Maye after the team released its first injury report since he took a helmet-to-helmet hit in a 25-22 victory last weekend over the New York Jets.According to Mayo, Maye remains on NFL concussion protocol, which has curtailed his ability to practice for the Patriots' match-up against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday . If Maye is still unable to play by then, Jacoby Brissett will start as quarterback.
Maye was taken out of the game after the NFL's spotter instructed the team to have him evaluated in the medical tent. It was reported that Maye wanted to return by halftime, but remained benched for the game. Mayo later criticized refs and referred to some of their calls as 'questionable,' which many took as a pointed comment on the lack of a penalty for Maye's hit.Mayo also said at the time, 'When I spoke to him, he seemed like he was OK.
